Peachtree Center District Born from Change, Continues to Redefine the Downtown Atlanta Experience

The Peachtree Center District Initiative of Central Atlanta Progress/Atlanta Downtown Improvement District seeks to share the unique story of Peachtree Center in as many ways as possible, including the publication of Peachtree Center: 1961-2008, forthcoming tours of Peachtree Center, and sharing ways the past connects with today’s world.

Downtown’s digital signs display messages of hope from local artists

Downtown Atlanta’s Arts and Entertainment District has transitioned to using its digital signage to display coronavirus public service announcements, in partnership with local artists.

The digital signs have been installed on buildings throughout downtown, including Peachtree Center and the 101 Marietta building, over the last year in an attempt to give downtown a distinct personality, featuring illuminated signs.

Photos: On Thursday, Atlanta turned blue to honor essential workers

As the sun set on Thursday evening, several of Atlanta’s landmarks, including Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the SkyView Ferris wheel, Truist Park, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and Colony Square, glowed brightly in blue as part of the national #LightItBlue event. The event, which saw landmarks from the Empire State Building to L.A.’s Staples Center switch on the blue bulbs, is part of #MakeItBlue, an effort that originally started in the United Kingdom as a way for citizens and businesses to pay tribute to those fighting COVID-19 in the country’s National Healthcare System—hence the color blue. Check out photos below of Atlanta’s display.

Intown farmers markets providing fresh produce and goods during pandemic

Despite the shelter-in-place order due to COVID-19, many of Intown’s farmers markets remain open since they are considered essential businesses for food distribution. You can still get your fresh fruits, vegetables, and other goods, but be sure to follow pre-ordering instructions instituted by some of the markets and social distancing guidelines.
