Survivor Series: Anonymous

“This summer, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I quickly had a bilateral mastectomy and am currently undergoing chemotherapy to reduce the risk of the cancer reoccurring. Every day, I’m so thankful for my family and the doctors who have been beside me throughout this “pink process” as well as the kindness from our local community.

In honor of breast cancer awareness month, I want everyone to know a few things. First, self-exams are so important. I found a lump during a regular self breast exam and it has made all the difference. Second, the support from friends has made a difficult time bearable, through small kindnesses like keeping my children and a home-cooked meal every now and then.

To all the women out there fighting this terrible disease alongside me, stay strong and have hope. We are in this together.”
