Finding time for physical exercise during the work week is a challenge. It’s hard to devote yourself to a 6 a.m. spin class, and by the time you get home at the end of the day you’ve cultivated a whole list of excuses of why you shouldn’t hit the gym. So, why not work out during work? Check out these ideas that can help you get fit at your desk.
The Persevering Printer
Why just stand by the printing pages when you could be sculpting your calves with calf raises? Standing with feet shoulder-width apart, press up onto the tippy toes, pause at the top, then lower back down. Repeat for three sets of 12-15 reps, or until the printing is done. Have a standing desk? Set reminders to perform a few sets of these at your desk each day.
The Silent Squeeze
Deskercises don’t have to involve full-body movement, and this isometric exercise is one of them. To start toning, simply squeeze the glutes while sitting in your desk chair, hold for 5-10 seconds, and release and repeat for one minute.
The Workplace Wanderer
Wondering around the office during work is easy, especially in a walkable workplace like Peachtree Center. During lunch hour, take a few minutes to visit with coworkers in different spaces or take the stairs up to a floor you’ve never visited before. At Peachtree Center, take advantage of our sky bridges for an easy walk to get those juices flowing again, no matter the weather outside.
The Stairway Stalker
Feel the burn and elevate your heart rate by taking the stairs! Accelerate on the straight-aways and take two at a time every other flight for a real leg burn. Get your co-workers involved in a stair challenge for accountability. Whoever climbs the most flights each week wins a prize!
